Fees & insurance

We’re primarily a private-pay practice. Here’s what sessions cost, how out-of-network benefits work, and what to expect around payment and cancellations.

Session fees

ClinicianIntake (50–60 min)Session (45–50 min)Format
Amy King, PsyD$225$210In-person or telehealth
Elaine Cameron, PsyD$220$205Telehealth
Marissa Song, LPCC$150$135In-person or telehealth
Rachel Chan, BA$95$80Telehealth

Fees are the same for in-person and telehealth. Every clinician provides superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Insurance and reduced-rate details for each therapist are on their page.

Why we’re mostly private pay

Private pay allows us to keep our caseloads small, and a small caseload changes the quality of everything. Your clinician can shape the work around you rather than around a treatment plan an insurer will approve. The approach is chosen for you. The pace is set by what you need, not by a session limit decided by someone who has never met you. And when life intervenes, there is room to reschedule. What you are paying for is attention that isn’t divided: care that is unhurried, specialized, and yours.

Private pay also means privacy. When you pay directly, no diagnosis, treatment record, or session count is sent to an insurer. Some clients, including physicians and other licensed professionals, choose private pay for exactly that reason.

Private pay isn’t right for everyone, so we also offer a few options that align with our values: we are in-network with Aetna, we accept the Lotus Therapy Fund, and a small number of reduced-rate sessions are offered case by case.

Using your out-of-network benefits

Every clinician at InnerWoven provides superbills: an itemized receipt you submit to your insurer for reimbursement. Many PPO plans reimburse a portion of the fee once your out-of-network deductible is met. To find out what yours covers, call the member number on your insurance card and ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met this year?
  • What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed once the deductible is met?
  • Do I need pre-authorization, and how do I submit claims?

Reimbursement is set by your plan, and some plans don’t cover sessions with pre-licensed clinicians, so ask before you start. Superbills also carry a diagnosis code, because insurers require one; if privacy is your reason for paying privately, you may prefer not to submit them.

Payment and cancellations

Payment. A card kept on file in our secure client portal is charged after each session. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.

Cancellations. We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations are charged $80. Missed sessions without notice are charged the full session fee. Insurance doesn’t cover these fees.

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

If you’re paying privately, you’ll receive a Good Faith Estimate of your expected costs in writing before your first session, and again if your fees or treatment plan change. The notice below is required under the federal No Surprises Act.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
